Local businesses see support as Lincoln’s Project O Street continues

When Project O Street was announced in July 2025, Lincoln businesses in affected areas braced for lower foot traffic and sales. However, about five months into the project, business owners say they haven’t felt as much of an impact as expected.

Jordy Elfers, owner of O’Rourke’s Tavern at 13th and O streets, said he was initially concerned about how the project would affect his business.

“The implications for business were obviously impeding foot traffic, which is a big deal in downtown Lincoln,” Elfers said. “Overall, what was the biggest concern is how are people going to get here? Are we going to lose business because it’s hard to get here?”…
