RICHMOND, Calif. (KRON) — Richmond community members rallied Tuesday and packed into a City Council meeting to urge officials to temporarily halt the development of data centers in the city.
Dozens of residents and activists gathered before the meeting, calling on councilmembers to support a proposed 45-day moratorium on data center development.
There are currently no data centers in Richmond. Community members said they want the city to study the potential environmental and health impacts of the facilities before allowing them to be built.
