MANCHESTER, MI — A couple’s dream of opening Washtenaw County’s first U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected meat processing facility in Manchester is nearing the finish line, sparking interest from local livestock farmers.
Husband and wife Damian Rivera and Rosemary Linares, who co-founded Damian’s Craft Meats, have reached more than 90% of their funding goal for the $18.5 million facility. The facility is also certified for humane animal handling with capacity for organic processing.
The future facility secured more than $4.1 million in grant funding through the USDA in 2024, along with other grants, private capital and debt. Their “steakholder” fundraising campaign continues as they near their fundraising goals…
