An unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested after running a stop sign near 7-Eleven in Oxford.
A deputy on patrol near the 7-Eleven on U.S. 301 observed 28-year-old Jose Guadalupe Gonzalez Benitez driving a black Dodge pickup truck around 8:20 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The truck had no working headlights, and as the deputy followed, it ran a stop sign. He subsequently stopped the truck and asked Gonzalez Benitez about his driver’s license. He instead handed over a Mexican ID, advising that he never obtained a license, the report said…
