Colorado Springs snow plow teams prepare for winter

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It might not feel like it, but snow could be here sooner than you think. The Colorado Springs plow fleet began preparing on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

On Wednesday, crews took part in snow school 101, getting behind the wheel of some of the 50 large plows in the city’s fleet. Drivers were aiming for high marks with orange cones putting drivers to the test, with the goal of leaving as many standing as possible when class was dismissed.

“You cannot duplicate snow,” said Public Works Manager Clint Brown. “However, what we can duplicate is the physical–driving the trucks. You know, the activities… brushing up on our knowledge base of how materials work.”
