ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Teachers Association (RTA) and the Rochester City School District (RCSD) gave statements after the RTA said it unanimously voted to call for an impasse in the stalled-out contract negotiations with the school district.
Statement from the teacher’s union
The president of the RTA accused the school district of unsuccessful meetings since the previous contract ended back on June 30. The decision to impasse was voted on this week, according to the RTA.
The statement below comes from Adam Urbanski, the president of the teacher’s union:
“At their monthly meeting yesterday evening, the RTA Representative Assembly voted unanimously to declare impasse in our stalled negotiations for a successor contract with the Rochester City School District. We are filing for impasse today and asking the NYS Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) to appoint an impartial mediator to help resolve the issues. …
