High Springs police, fire department cuts worry residents

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) – The potential disbanding of the High Springs police and fire departments has residents worried. City leaders are trying to figure out how to fill a budget shortfall and are discussing whether to ask Alachua County to take over the services.

Residents who attended a community meeting Thursday night said they are scared. One resident said she would not feel comfortable living in High Springs without the local police department.
