One of Lafayette’s Best Restaurants Sadly Appears to Have Closed

LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA — Exciting news about a restaurant coming to downtown Lafayette appears to come with a sad goodbye. It’s with quite a heavy heart that we share this news.

Barranco, the Peruvian restaurant at 3596 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, appears to have closed permanently. Its OpenTable listing now explicitly labels the restaurant “Permanently Closed.”

That designation comes as Hog Island Oyster Co. prepares to take over the same address.

As Bay Area Telegraph previously reported, Hog Island announced September 17 that it plans to open a Lafayette oyster bar in the Barranco space in early 2027. The announcement raised an obvious question for those who enjoyed the Peruvian restaurant: What was happening to Barranco?…
