Plantation drivers face limited closures as Broward launches bridge project lasting through May 2027

Broward County, Florida – Work is now underway on a major bridge rehabilitation project along Peters Road in Plantation, but Broward County says its construction approach is designed to keep much of the disruption out of drivers’ way.

Construction began Sept. 14 on the County-owned bridge, launching a project that will continue through May 2027. Much of the rehabilitation is planned beneath the bridge rather than on its driving surface, allowing crews to address structural needs while limiting prolonged lane closures.

The project is being handled by Broward County’s Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division and is funded through the Penny for Transportation Surtax, also known as MAP Broward. The bridge is located in County Commission District 5, represented by Commissioner Steve Geller…
