Campbell Regional Juvenile Detention Center — Site of Alleged Misconduct
Neil Moorman, a former correctional officer at Campbell Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Newport, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to two amended counts of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that the plea replaced two first-degree sexual-abuse charges and resolved allegations involving two girls held at the facility.
Campbell County Circuit Judge Daniel Zalla imposed the sentence after prosecutors argued that Moorman had abused the authority and trust associated with supervising detained youths.
