A 39-year-old Naples woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after detectives said she had enough fentanyl stashed in her efficiency apartment to kill nearly 20,000 people. Yusbelkin Clemente-Vega was adjudicated guilty Wednesday after pleading no contest to trafficking in fentanyl of 14 grams or more and to sale and delivery of a controlled substance, with a mandatory minimum of seven years behind bars built into her sentence.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Vice and Narcotics detectives arrested Clemente-Vega and 42-year-old co-defendant Maikel Raul Felipe Bernal on August 14, 2024, after executing a search warrant at a suspected drug house on 44th Terrace Southwest. The suspected drug house sat directly across from a neighborhood park where children play, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives recovered 318 pills stamped with M30 markings meant to mimic legitimate oxycodone hydrochloride tablets, along with methamphetamine.
The fentanyl pills weighed a combined 34.1 grams. Using the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s own metric that 2 milligrams — roughly 10 to 15 grains of table salt — can be a lethal dose, that stash represented an estimated 17,050 potentially fatal doses, according to the DEA. The case also involved counterfeit M30 tablets.
Cash, Cars and a Pending Co-Defendant
Detectives recovered $13,380 in cash from the residence, which they said was packaged and denominated in a way indicative of narcotic sales. Bernal had an additional $6,000 seized directly from his person, and he was booked on charges of trafficking fentanyl over 28 grams and possession of methamphetamine, according to Fox 35 Orlando.
