FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Crews are responding to an assisted living facility that caught fire after an explosion east of downtown Fort Wayne.
Just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters were called to a building on fire just east of downtown. Fort Wayne Dispatch confirmed that crews were actively working to put out the fire in the 2000 block of Maumee Avenue.
A fire chief told a WANE 15 crew member that the fire was caused by an explosion, but it is unclear what caused the explosion. One person was sent to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries…
