(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Military aircraft, historic warbirds and civilian aerobatic performers took to the skies over Colorado Springs over the weekend for the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow. Proceeds from the weekend event benefit three local museums dedicated to preserving military history and educating future generations.
The event offered spectator demonstrations while raising funds for regional aviation and military history facilities. FOX21 photojournalist Jaiden Kelsey flew aboard one of the historic planes to showcase the airshow’s preservation mission firsthand.
Military aviation took center stage during the weekend’s demonstrations, giving attendees a direct look at high-performance maneuvers. Evan Goss, an F-18 pilot, flew tactical demonstrations with Navy aircraft, featuring high-speed passes, tight turns, and upside-down aerobatics.
“Really happy to support and bring some Navy aircraft to a part of the country that probably, you know, would never really see us do the tactical demo. So most of the tactical maneuvers: all the upside-down aerobatic stuff, high-speed stuff, tight turns, all that, all the fan favorites. I think it’s something you’ve got to kind of experience in person and see in person. You know, a YouTube video doesn’t really do it justice. I’m excited to be here,” said Goss.
