Three people were hospitalized and two fire fighters checked out after flames shot through the roof of a west suburban apartment building on Thursday, officials said
The blaze that broke out around 10 a.m. engulfed several units in the Windsor Laes Apartment Homes, located at 7351 Woodward Ave. in Woodridge, was sparked as a new gas meter was being installed in the area. Residents of the complex said they heard a loud crack and a boom before smoke filled the air.
