LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Documents obtained by 6 News Investigates show that despite there being multiple incidents where firearms were stolen from vehicles, the Clinton County Sheriff was the only one the county prosecutor’s office said violated the law.
The office of Clinton County Prosecutor Tony Spagnuolo authored a memo that advocated for Clinton County Sheriff Sean Dush to be charged with violating the safe storage law after his firearm was stolen from his vehicle and recovered from a minor 4 months ago.
In the entirety of Dush has been the only one the prosecutor’s office said violated the safe storage law. Dush called the request for an independent prosecutor a “political witch hunt.”
