CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte City Council is considering a new youth curfew that would require people under 18 to be home by 10 p.m. unless they have a chaperone or qualify for an exception.
The proposed change comes after a series of large, unsupervised groups, including so-called “teen takeovers,” led to reports of property damage and other disruptions at places such as Romare Bearden Park and Birkdale Village.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Estella Patterson has pushed for tighter curfew restrictions, saying she is concerned the gatherings could become deadly if they are not addressed.
