REPUBLIC, Mo. — On Sept. 22, 2026, Missouri recorded its highest diesel price in history.
According to data from AAA, diesel hit $6.34 per gallon on average within the state, and Springfield’s record-high average falls right below that at $6.25 per gallon on Sept. 21.
James Kilburn, the fire chief for Brookline Fire and Rescue in Greene County, said that he has gone out of his way to not let the higher prices affect his team’s response to emergencies.
