Mobile County commissioners unanimously approved a $232.9 million fiscal year 2027 budget on Monday, a spending plan that is 6.2% higher than last year as the county absorbs rising personnel expenses and begins operating several major recreational facilities.
The budget, which takes effect Oct. 1 and runs through Sept. 30, 2027, reflects a 2.5% midyear cost-of-living increase for all county employees and the county’s transition to a self-insured health care program. Mobile County employs approximately 1,600 people.
