LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska’s defense has shown big signs of improvement under first year defensive coordinator Rob Aurich.
One area specifically showing promise, is the pass rush. Over the past two games, the Blackshirts have 11 sacks, six this weekend against Michigan State. Two of those in East Lansing belonged to big defensive end Williams Nwaneri. Head Coach Matt Rhule says Nwaneri’s growth is promising, but thinks there’s still opportunity for Nwaneri to become even better than he already is.
“Williams is a really good player, I thought he did a lot of really good things at times last year… He’s practicing well and as he practices well, good things happen,” Nwaneri said. “I’m proud of Williams, but I think there’s way more in there for him, and the best thing I can do is just be like ‘Hey, just get better today’… So a lot of it is how did Emmett Johnson happen? He practiced. How did John Bullock happen? He practiced. I think as long as Williams practices well, good things are going to happen.”…
