Earning a Bronze Medal at the WorldSkills International Competition, Mikala Sposito, representing the United States of America, was the first female to podium in welding in the history of this competition that attracts participants from around the world.
This great news was announced on Sept. 27, by a proud SkillsUSA organization, which is a national workforce development organization that helps middle school, high school, and college students prepare for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations.
SkillsUSA said in a press release that Sposito, a 21-year-old SkillsUSA Michigan welding champion and Dexter High School graduate, “earned a bronze medal in the rigorous Welding competition with a highly competitive field. Sposito, a student at Washtenaw Community College, spent thousands of hours training for the competition and is the first female to represent the U.S. in this skill competition.”…
