A federal judge declined last month to dismiss private prison operator The GEO Group from a lawsuit alleging its failures to train staff or adopt policies for suspected overdoses led to the death of a woman in an Arapahoe County facility.
Monique Gallegos was serving a community corrections sentence in the Arapahoe County Residential Center in June 2023, which GEO Group operated. The Littleton facility houses those with substance abuse issues, and Gallegos had recently overdosed on drugs while there.
