New posts on Jackson in response to funeral processions

Several times a year, funeral processions drive through Forest Park with people hanging out car windows, and vehicles speeding or swerving between lanes.

To prevent dangerous funeral processions, the village installed delineators on Jackson Boulevard between Harlem and Des Plaines as part of a months-long construction project. The flexible posts stick up in the middle of the road, in between east and westbound lanes.

“People have said, ‘What are those?’” Commissioner Michelle Melin-Rogovin said about the street’s new delineators during her commissioner’s comment at the end of a Sept. 28 council meeting. “We’ve had funeral processions going along Jackson and we needed to address cars that have been weaving in between lanes and dangerous driving along Jackson as they get off the expressway and go past schools and kids and families.”…
