Detours Planned As Clyde Fant Parkway Shuts Down For Bridge Work

When construction of the new Jimmie Davis Bridge over Red River first began in May of 2024, we truly couldn’t see the end anywhere in sight.

However, in a recent notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we see the project end is finally coming into focus. With an anticipated completion date of the new four-lane bridge in mid to late 2027, and the entire project (linear park included) expected to wrap up in late 2028, it’s exciting to read that the project is staying on schedule and officials will soon begin the next phase of construction.

In the next construction phase of new $361 million bridge, deck pouring operations will begin, but this will come at a slight, short-term cost for area drivers.

To begin the phase, DOTD announces the need to close Clyde Fant Parkway southbound tomorrow night, Thursday, October 1, from approximately 10:00 pm to 10:00 am on Friday, October 2nd…
