Developer Gary Granger eyes $400M investment in downtown Lansing

LANSING — A Grand Rapids-area developer with Lansing roots is buying property in the city’s downtown with plans to invest as much as $400 million in redevelopment efforts that include adding retail, restaurants and more apartments.

Gary Granger, a Holt High School graduate and the founder and CEO of Wyoming, Michigan-based Granger Group, has plans for at least four downtown properties, two of which he already owns.

Those efforts will start with improvements at One Michigan Avenue, a 10-story 157,548-square-foot office building on North Washington Square directly west of the DoubleTree by Hilton Lansing hotel. Granger Group bought the property in early September…
