Alexandria Takes a Fresh Look at Parking Rules—and What They Cost Residents

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria is reconsidering how much off-street parking must accompany new homes, a decision that can affect everything from the design of an apartment building to the amount of land available for housing.

The Alexandria Planning Commission will examine proposed residential parking standards during a work session Tuesday, October 6. The review comes as the city prepares to comply with Virginia House Bill 888, which limits the parking localities may require near major transit facilities.
