A motorist who stopped to help after a crash was struck and killed late Saturday night on southbound Lodge Freeway near 9 Mile Road in Southfield.
Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash around 11:39 p.m. that left one vehicle disabled and blocking the two left lanes. Minutes later, a passing motorist pulled onto the right shoulder, got out and crossed the freeway to help. While the person was assisting, another driver swerved to avoid the disabled vehicle and struck them.
Troopers, Southfield police and fire/EMS personnel performed CPR and other lifesaving efforts, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene…
