Fraudulent QR codes placed on Ann Arbor parking meters, AAPD warns

In a post to Facebook, the Ann Arbor Police Department warned community members about fraudulent QR code stickers that scammers have placed on the city’s parking meters downtown — especially near the Maynard Parking Structure. AAPD cautioned that the QR code directs people to a website designed to steal their personal data or payment information.

The stickers read “SCAN TO PARK!” with a logo from “Park AA,” which is not a real company. Ann Arbor’s parking meters are instead operated by epark. To pay for parking legitimately, customers should first type in the number listed on the parking meter and then pay using epark’s website, the official epark Ann Arbor app or nearby on-street pay station kiosks…
