Hidden Valley neighbors angry over triplex built in historically Black neighborhood

Eight homeowners in Charlotte’s historically Black Hidden Valley neighborhood say they plan to sue a developer over a nearly finished triplex across from Hidden Valley Elementary School that they allege violates recorded deed restrictions.

Representatives of McAdoo Law Firm said at a Saturday press conference at Parkwood Institutional CME Church that the suit will be filed this week in Mecklenburg County Superior Court against Four Corners of Charlotte LLC. The homeowners say the building at 5135 Snow White Lane, in the Echo Glen section of Hidden Valley, should never have been built.

Four Corners says it followed the law and built three townhouses on what its attorney called an abandoned, empty lot. Community organizers say the case is about more than one lot.
