Lawmakers plan legislation to make locked-out workers automatically eligible for unemployment

(Inside INdiana Business) – Lawmakers from northwest Indiana plan to propose a bill in the next session of the Indiana General Assembly to support workers who have been locked out by their employers.

The effort is in response to the lockout of more than 800 union workers at the BP Whiting Refinery, which has been in place since mid-March as the oil giant and the United Steelworkers Local 7-1 continue negotiations over a new labor contract.
