Savannah man sentenced to nearly 5 years for gun charge

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Following a Savannah police traffic stop in 2025, a man was sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison for possessing a gun as a previously convicted felon.

Daminason Jackson, 32, of Savannah, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 57 months in prison and a $1,500 fine, followed by three years of supervised release.

Jackson was stopped in May 2025 by SPD officers and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended…
