WINTERSET, Iowa– A lengthy hearing was held on Monday for the Madison County man accused of murdering his mother in June. The defense is trying to get an alleged recorded confession thrown out, and the entire interrogation along with it.
23-year-old Theodore Corkrean has been charged with First Degree Murder for the shooting death of 60-year-old Tammy Corkrean. Her body was found on June 22 at their rural home in Van Meter after deputies conducted a welfare check.
The hearing centered on a Motion to Suppress a phone call Theodore had with a pastor after his arrest at a West Des Moines church. Court documents indicate he confessed to the crime during the phone call.
Pastor Mike Housholder, of Lutheran Church of Hope, said he has served the church for more than thirty years. He testified that while he had never seen Theodore before and that the murder suspect was was not a congregant, he believes the conversation they had was a privileged communication…
