A group of Gresham neighbors is working hard to care for and cultivate a pair of parks, one undeveloped and one neglected.
The Powell Valley Neighborhood Association has taken the lead in stewarding two parks in their shared backyard. That is being done via a pair of committees — the East Gresham Park Committee and Kane Road Park Committee.
East Gresham Park
Gresham has six undeveloped parks that, pending funding, will eventually become standard city assets. But money is a never-ending issue, so they have functioned as protected natural areas, wildlife habitats and open spaces for more than a decade. The East Gresham Park has long been on that list.
Neighbors have been doing monthly volunteer outings for several years to care for East Gresham Park, 237 S.E. Williams Rd. Anyone is welcome to join, with the usual focus on removing invasive species and planting native ones that are more resilient to the local climate.
