Gateway85 CID giving Gwinnett Police new eyes in the sky

If you see some drones flying in the skies near a crime scene in the Norcross area, it’s because of the Gateway85 Community Improvement District.

The CID donated two Skydio X10 drones to the Gwinnett County Police Department to help officers with investigations at active crime scenes and searches for missing people. County commissioners voted to let police accept the donation on Tuesday.

“These two drones will be vehicle-based and deployed by precinct supervisors,” Gwinnett Police Chief J.D. McClure told commissioners. “Once airborne, flight operations will be managed by crime analysts in the (Situational Awareness and Crime Response Center).”…
