UPDATE: The National Hurricane Center has upgraded the disturbance to Tropical Depression Nine.
At 4 p.m., the depression was located about 630 miles southwest of the mouth of Mississippi River. Maximum sustained winds were about 35 mph and the minimal central pressure was at 1007 millibars or 29.74 inches, according to the NHC.
