Three people were killed on Thursday in a car crash on San Francisco’s busiest bridge, officials said. First responders were called to the lower level of the Bay Bridge, which connects San Francisco to Oakland, shortly before 4.30am, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
Upon arrival, they found an accident in the eastbound lanes. A Toyota pickup truck appeared to have rear-ended a Mini Cooper car that was stalled in the fourth lane just before the tunnel to Treasure Island , officials said. The driver of the Mini Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene as was a passenger who was sitting in the back seat.

Another passenger in the same car was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, where they later died, officials said. The driver of the truck was hospitalized at San Francisco General Hospital with moderate injuries, according to reports.
