Two men have been identified and charged in connection to the death of Silver Spring resident Carlos Alberto Ortiz earlier this year in Prince George’s County, police say.
Jimmy Hernandez-Morales, 24, and William Jaminton Pavon-Mancock, 27, both also of Silver Spring, have been charged with multiple counts of murder following a near monthlong probe into the 35-year-old father’s fatal shooting.
Officers were called at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, to the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue, where they found Ortiz in a wooded area suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a spokesperson from the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
Detectives say that the preliminary investigation revealed that Pavon-Mancock shot the victim during a dispute and that they were known to each other.
Following the investigation, Hernandez-Morales and Pavon-Mancock were identified as suspects and charged with first- and second-degree murder, as well as other related offenses, authorities announced on Tuesday.
