Boy shot on train during robbery in DC, Metro police say

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metro Transit Police Department said it is investigating after a boy was shot during a robbery at Gallery Place on Saturday night.

According to the department, just before 11 p.m., several teens were involved in a “possible robbery” aboard a Green Line train at Gallery Place.

During the robbery, one of the suspects allegedly shot the boy. Responders took him to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

After the shooting, trains briefly single-tracked while officers investigated.

Around the same time, police said that a large group of “disorderly” teens were in the area of Navy Yard. Out of an abundance of caution, the New Jersey entrance was closed to maintain order at the Navy Yard Station.

The entrance re-opened about 30 minutes later, after the crowd dissipated. Police did not say the incidents were related.
