After a successful trial run at its test kitchen in Pasadena, Panda Express is rolling out a new small-plate item — that it says boasts big flavor — into the greater Los Angeles market.
Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings, the newest addition to the Panda Express menu, officially launched Wednesday at select locations in L.A.
The sweet and savory dumplings, Panda’s first food item to include Wagyu beef, are tossed with kale and onion in a chef-crafted sauce created by popular sauce company Fly By Jing .
The sauce, officials said, is inspired by a popular street snack from the city of Chengdu known as Zhong dumplings. It’s comprised of aromatic “soy sauce, slow-brewed with brown sugar, mushrooms, garlic and a blend of spices,” the company said when it launched the menu item last spring.
Panda Express said the dumplings, and the other items it tests at its Innovation Kitchen in Pasadena, are a testament to its commitment to innovate and give fans the opportunity to experience new flavors in an “approachable, creative way.”
