It’s not every year that you get to see one of the largest operating steam locomotives in the world roll through your town — but this spring, Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 is doing just that as part of its first-ever coast-to-coast tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
Big Boy will leave its home base in Cheyenne, Wyoming on March 29, and will be heading westward, retracing historic rail routes that defined the American West. When it comes to Nevada, there’s plenty for rail fans to mark on their calendars and share online.
