Evers signs bill allowing police to use saliva drug tests on drivers

Wisconsin police officers can now administer roadside saliva drug tests during impaired driving traffic stops, with a new law approved almost a decade after Dane County sheriff’s deputies piloted such screenings.

Gov. Tony Evers signed the bill into law Friday, making Wisconsin one of 28 other states that permit some form of saliva screening, according to a 2023 report from the National Conference of State Legislatures.
