Fresno wants to use its COVID money to help the homeless

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno has over $1 million in COVID funds it needs to use within a year – and they want it to go toward helping the city’s homeless.

The funding, which was upwards of $5 million when it initially came in 2020, was mostly spent, but $1,017,841.96 still needs to be used. And fast.

The funding will expire in April 2027. It was part of $1,115,986 allocated in 2021 to go toward the city’s “Program Administration and Compliance,” but since then, the city has used less than one-tenth of it and has decided it has more important places to go, like helping the homeless…
