Savannah man sentenced to 14 years for gun possession at Oglethorpe Mall

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A Savannah man caught carrying a gun at Oglethorpe Mall was sentenced to more than 14 years in federal prison on firearms charges.

Herman Lamont Dessasure, 43, of Savannah, was sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, said Margaret Heap, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.

U.S. District Court Judge Lisa Godbey Wood said she determined Dessasure was an armed career criminal because of at least three prior violent felony convictions. Under enhanced sentencing guidelines, she sentenced him to 170 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release…
