A GRPS administrator was on track to be fired 2 years ago. Instead she got a $20K raise

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Two years ago, Grand Rapids Public Schools Superintendent Leadriane Roby wrote to board members that it was in the best interest of the district to “move forward with termination” of its deputy superintendent.

At the time, Roby wrote that the decision stemmed from a 2024 investigation into Deputy Superintendent Brandy Lovelady Mitchell’s conduct.

But just a few months after the termination request, Mitchell instead got a $20,000 raise…
