How a Cascade Twp. break-in led investigators to take out a multi-state burglary ring

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The so-called ringleader of a nationwide burglary ring that targeted homes across the country, including one in West Michigan, has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison, as investigators reveal how a single break-in in Kent County helped unravel the entire operation.

Federal prosecutors say John Quintero-Herrera led a sophisticated, multi-state crew responsible for burglarizing homes in at least seven states, stealing more than $1.5 million in cash, jewelry and valuables.

Six others have also been sentenced, while one suspect remains on the run. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, all seven individuals so far sentenced were in the United States illegally…
