Wildfire erupts in New Jersey sending smoke visible across Philadelphia region

A wildfire in Gloucester County, New Jersey prompted a major response Saturday as smoke spread across the region and was visible from parts of the Philadelphia metropolitan area, officials said.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said ground and air crews were deployed to the area near 8th Street in West Deptford Township, New Jersey to contain the blaze. They told residents on X to “Avoid the area.” Adding, “Please follow directions from emergency personnel.”
