Abandoned Detroit School Gets $31M Conversion Into 50-Unit Homeless Housing

A vacant school in northwest Detroit will become housing for people without homes. The $31 million project will create 50 units designed for those who’ve been homeless the longest.

The old school has been empty for decades, crumbling after years with no one inside. Now it gets a second life. Construction starts in 2026. Residents should move in by 2027.
