SCDOT seeks input on safety assessments, including several Upstate projects

The state Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a number of safety assessment projects lists, several of which are in the Upstate.

Public comments are being sought on SCDOT’s efforts to amend the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program to include the proposed 2026 Vehicular and Vulnerable Road User Road Safety Assessment project lists, which include the following Upstate projects:

  • SC 291 (North Pleasantburg Drive) from near Keith Drive to near Edwards Road (mile 5.80 to 8.00) in Greenville County
  • US 29 (Wade Hampton Boulevard) from Watson Road to Morningside Avenue (mile 12.00 to 16.00) in Greenville County
  • US 29 (South Granard Street/Cherokee Avenue) from near Hyatt Street to near River Drive (mile 8.80 to 12.00) in Cherokee County
  • US 123 (Easley Bridge Road) from Harris Avenue to Oneal Street (mile 2.60 to 4.90) in Greenville County

According to SCDOT, the road safety assessment lists were ranked using a combination of crash data and injury severity for vehicular crashes as well as vulnerable road user (i.e. non-motorists like pedestrians and bicyclists) crashes…
