Late-morning gunfire on a Morningside Heights block has detectives asking neighbors to check their cameras and their memories.
Police say a gun was fired in front of 143 Morningside Avenue on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at about 11:37 a.m. The shooter then took off on foot, heading along Morningside Avenue toward West 126th Street. Detectives have since put out a public wanted notice as they dig into what happened.
