VDOT encourages use free I-64 west lane in Norfolk amid new traffic shift

NORFOLK, Va. — A new traffic pattern on Interstate 64 in Norfolk may cause delays for drivers, although state transportation officials say options are available to help motorists avoid congestion.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has shifted traffic to the outside lanes on I-64 west between Tidewater Drive and Granby Street, a change that took effect last week. The adjustment allows crews to continue work on the Hampton Roads Express Lanes project in Norfolk.
