Warm Today, severe weather possible Tuesday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – It will feel more like summer than spring today with near record temperatures for much of the area this afternoon. Critical fire weather conditions are in place for much of Central and Western Nebraska due to the combination of warm temperatures, low humidity and breezy conditions so there is a Red Flag Warning there. Winds today look to be west, south and southwest at 10 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

Near Record-Breaking Heat Today

The forecast high temperature of 88 in Lincoln is just one degree shy of the record high of 89 degrees set in 1936 and tied in both 2023 and 2024. Much of Nebraska will experience similar warmth with temperatures ranging from the low to mid 70s in the panhandle to the 80s across the rest of the state.
